METAIRIE — It was a rough night for the West St. John Rams (2-4) Friday when they suffered a loss at the hands of the Country Day Cajuns (6-0.)
The Rams took the Cajuns 55-26 victory hard.
“We did horribly,” said WSJ head football coach Brandon Walters. “We got our butts whooped. We didn’t come out there and play and sustain anything.
“We came out there pretty tough at first, playing good ball. We had some stops. We didn’t score the ball, and it just went downhill from there. We didn’t get anything going offensively, and defensively, we just stopped playing.”
The Rams picked off a pass and forced two fumbles in the first half, and they tied the game at 13-13 late in the second quarter on Juwan Boudoin’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Daquan Frank, the second of Boudoin’s four touchdowns of the night.
By halftime, Country Day was leading 20-13.
“It’s kind of tough to find some good spots in what I saw tonight,” Walters said after the game. “Playing this way is a first for us. I don’t feel that we’ve done anything right tonight and I don’t think we have anything to be proud of.”
The Cajuns scored 28 points in the third quarter and took control of the District opener for both teams.
The Rams never recovered and the usual frontrunners suffered their fourth loss of the season.
