VACHERIE — Celebrity Chef Jeff Henderson is known for flipping favorite dishes of chefs, celebrities and everyday people in order to make healthier versions.
He recently applied this skill at numerous River Parishes locations, the result of which will air on his nationally syndicated television show, “Flip My Food with Chef Jeff,” next week.
River Parishes Tourist Commission Communications Manager Jo Banner was able to help Chef Jeff with a pecan pie during taping at St. Joseph Plantation in Vacherie.
“The show highlighted the culture and cuisine of the River Parishes,” Banner said. “It will definitely bring more visitors to our area.”
Banner describes the experience as enjoyable, adding “Chef Jeff put everyone at ease; it was a pleasure working with the entire crew.”
Destrehan, Ormond and St. Joseph Plantations, as well as the Catfish Festival in Des Allemands, served as locations during the show’s summer taping. Staff members from each location assisted Chef Jeff as he put a healthy spin on some of the area’s favorite dishes. Episodes of “Flip My Food with Chef Jeff” will air Monday and Wednesday.
The show intertwines local history into each episode while showcasing the location or product. Locally sourced ingredients are often a staple of the selected dishes. The Ormond Plantation episode will air at 10:30 a.m. on WVUE and 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on WAFB/WBXH on Monday.
The St. Joseph Plantation episode will air at 10:30 a.m. on WVUE and 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on WAFB/WBXH on Wednesday.
