GARYVILLE — Three local men are facing dogfighting charges following their weekend arrests, and authorities said more arrests are coming.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Bryant Daigre Jr., 27; Brandent Sampson Sr., 36; and Kenon Duhe, 27, all of Garyville, Saturday morning. They were arrested at their residences without incident, Sheriff Mike Tregre said.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants Sept. 26 after receiving video evidence “clearly showing” the suspects forcing dogs to engage in illegal dogfighting, Tregre said.

Sgt. Dane Clement said authorities confirmed the video taken showed dogfighting in St. John Parish. Authorities are not releasing the location.

“We don’t want to compromise anything with the investigation,” Clement said. “There is a high probability there will be additional arrests.”

Clement said he could not comment about if authorities are seeing an increase in local dogfighting.

Detectives booked:

• Daigre with dogfighting and violation of probation. He remains in custody in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

• Sampson with dogfighting, an outstanding attachment and violation of probation. He remains in custody in lieu of a $5,150 bond.

• Duhe with dogfighting, an outstanding attachment and three fugitive warrants for St. James Parish. He remains in custody in lieu of a $5,150 bond.
