Brown said he feels his level of leadership in the Senate during the last four years on behalf of the citizens in District 2, as well as the state, is evidence of our need to let his experience continue into another term as our leader.

“I was elected on the premise to fight and legislate for concerns and matters that are important primarily to District 2 and South Louisiana,” Brown said. “I will continue to be that kind of leader in the Senate.”

District 2 encompasses a portion of eight parishes: Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist and West Baton Rouge. It is the second largest District in the State geographically.

Brown said he feels working with a staff of hundreds of employees throughout all the parishes of District 2 continues to remain a vital asset in being hands on.

“One of the biggest fights continue to be the importance of employing local people for the many jobs that have come and will continue to locate in our area,” he said. “We work aggressively and tirelessly to address the workforce needs throughout South Louisiana for our chemical, petrochemical and nonindustrial industries.

A native of Napoleonville and resident of Geismar, Brown is married to Toni B. Brown and father of two children, Jatiea and Jaedon. Brown is the owner and CEO of Home-Care PCA LLC and Troy Brown Construction LLC, as well as being a real estate developer with an emphasis on residential housing.

Brown is a current member and former Senate Majority Whip of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus. He is also a member of the River Region Caucus, the Democratic Caucus and the Rural Caucus.

He serves as the Vice-Chair of the Environmental Quality Committee and is a member of the Transportation and Insurance Committee.

In the upcoming term it is Brown’s intent to serve on the Senate Finance Committee.

“Senate finance handles all fiscal matters and the state budget, which hovers around $25 billion annually,” he said.

“My experience in the Senate and business history will allow me to be an integral asset on Senate Finance.”
