LAPLACE – LaPlace’s Sears Hometown Store will close next month, store officials have announced.
Assistant Manager Gwendolyn Brown said the franchise owner decided not to renew his contract with Sears, and the store — located at 105 Carrollwood Drive — will close July 18.
“He tried to sell the franchise, but Sears wouldn’t allow it,” Brown said. “We want to thank our customers. We’re not closing because the business wasn’t good. It’s just the owner’s decision.”
Brown said the store would continue running sale papers advertising deals available in the LaPlace store with L’OBSERVATEUR through next month.
The closest Sears Hometown Store when the LaPlace location closes will be in Luling, located at 12715 U.S. 90.
