Lutcher dominates in win over Tara, 61-6

LAPLACE – After a nightmarish, injury-riddled start to the season for Lutcher, the Bulldogs are taking out those frustrations on their District 6-4A foes. 
The Bulldogs followed a blowout win over St. Michael last week with a 61-6 win over Tara at Lutcher, spurred by a 33-point second quarter explosion. 
Lutcher quarterback Christian Matherne completed 16 of 19 passes for 227 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns. Dondre Semien rushed nine times for 66 yards and a touchdown. Destin Porter led all receivers with seven receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns. 
Lutcher (3-4, 2-0) outgained Tara (4-3, 1-1) 415 to 116 in total yardage. LHS forced four Tara turnovers. 
A 1-yard Nick Bourgeois touchdown run gave LHS its first lead of the night at the 8:50 mark of the first quarter. 
Matherne tossed all three of his touchdown passes in the second quarter, connecting for scores with Porter (25 yards), Semien (4 yards) and Bourgeois (10 yards).
Semien, Jontre Kirklin and Trevor Comerdelle each rushed for touchdowns. Kirklin connected with Porter for a passing score in the third quarter.
