ArcelorMittal card designing contest

ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel company with a facility in LaPlace, is seeking entries for its third International New Year’s Ecard contest, open to children ages 6 to 14 in the local community. The theme for the 2011 contest is “My dream of a happy world!”

At each local facility in the U.S., an employee selection committee will identify the artwork that most clearly aligns with the theme. The winning artist will receive an Arcelor

Mittal backpack, art kit and move on to compete for the top prize at the U.S. level. The national winner, selected by a committee within Arcelor

Mittal Americas’ headquarters in Chicago, will receive a U.S. Savings Bond valued at $500.

The national’s first place entry will be sent to ArcelorMittal’s global headquarters in Luxembourg to be evaluated by a judging panel. One international winner will be selected to receive a $1,000 prize and his/

her artwork will be used as ArcelorMittal’s New Year’s card, which will be printed in hard copy and used by the company. Second and third place winners will receive $750 and $500 respectively. The top 28 cards representing countries where ArcelorMittal has operations, will be available as an ecard via the company’s website, www.arcelormittal.

com.

 Contest guidelines include:

• Child must be six to 14 years of age

• Artwork should be created on an 8.5 inch by 11 inch size paper with landscape orientation (horizontal, 8.5 inch high by 11 inch wide)

• Entry must include: child’s name, city, state and county of residence, phone and/or email (one required) and local ArcelorMittal facility name. Do not include personal information on front of artwork. Entries without this information may be disqualified.

 Deadline and submission details:

• Deadline is Oct. 31
