‘Champions of Life’ annual pro-life breakfast is coming up

One of the best kept secrets in St. John Parish is “Champions for Life”, a Pro-Life ministry. The group is affiliated with St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and works in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5935.
“Champions for Life” supports various activities around the Metro area that raise awareness for the respect for life. Their time, talent and treasure are devoted to praying outside the area abortion clinics, promoting alternatives to abortion and finding and providing funding for pro-life decisions.
On Oct. 17, 2009, “Champions for Life” will host their third annual pro-life free breakfast at the LaPlace Knights of Columbus Hall, 346 Fir Street, at
9 a.m. Families
of all faiths are invited to attend with their children. Babysitting services will be provided. Tickets are required and must be obtained before the breakfast by calling
St. Joan of Arc Church at 985-652-9100 or sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to 462 W. Maple Loop, LaPlace, LA 70068.
Jane Brennan, author of “Motherhood Interrupted,” will be the guest speaker. She will address the issue of post-abortive trauma which occurs for men and women who have participated in the abortion process. Most people are unaware of the pain, physical,
emotional and spiritual, experienced later in life. It is not just the would-be mothers who suffer. It has been shown the fathers are also adversely affected. Brennan’s talk is a personal testimony supported by knowledge gained pursuing a master’s degree in counseling. She once was a militant feminist, NOW (National Organization of Women) member and Planned Parenthood volunteer whose life was turned around by the grace and mercy of God.
The “Champions for Life” need our support. Let’s make an effort to attend.
