This Memorial Day weekend will be different for me and God’s ministry of Get High on Life. For the past 21 years, we have been blessed to host a breakfast remembering the men and women who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy. It was also an honor and privilege to honor the military personnel presently serving our country.

This was an exciting time for me, my family and the many people who participated in the celebration.

Judge Sterling Snowdy, Kevin Aucoin, Dr. Samuel Miano and Rocky Troxclair provided music throughout the breakfast, including a special melody of theme songs of the different branches of the military. Veterans in attendance stood as their respective branch’s song was played.

The Brady Bunch prepared a delicious breakfast every year and looked forward to providing that service.

Many volunteers were happy to serve the people in attendance. Last year was one of our largest crowds.

A special thanks to the KC Council 5935 of St. Joan of Arc Church in LaPlace for the use of their KC Hall, the L’OBSERVATEUR for the excellent coverage, the VFW and the American Legion from the River Parishes, and the St. John Sheriff’s Office.

This year, due to the coronavirus and the restrictions we must follow, we’re not saying we’re cancelling the program, but we are postponing it until November 11, 2020, which is Veteran’s Day.
