California court decision brings out a litany of emotions

Evil will prevail when righteous people do nothing. America is being destroyed from within, because Christians, who believe the Word of God is the truth, still refuse to get involved.

The attitude of not wanting to get involved has seen our country being taken over by a minority who aggressively promote their sinful lifestyle.  It started in the ‘60’s with the sexual revolution that led to the legalization of abortion in 1973.

Last week, California became the second state to legalize same-sex marriages.  Robin Tyler, a plaintiff in the case along with her partner, said, “We’re going to get married.”

One man said that he wept as he watched the news on television.  “I’ve been waiting for this all my life.  This is a life-affirming moment,” he said.

It wasn’t many years ago when homosexuals were encouraged to come out of the closet.  Since then, they have stampeded into the public view, proudly promoting their sin.  (If it was such a natural behavior, I wonder why they had to be in the closet in the first place.)

It’s reported that California has an estimated 92,000 same-sex couples.  San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom told a roaring crowd at City Hall, “ ‘As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation.  It’s evitable.  This door’s wide open now.  It’s going to happen, whether you like it or not.’ “

During Thursday’s taping of her show, Ellen DeGeneres told the studio audience that now she and her long time girlfriend, Portia de Rossi will get married.  The news had the audience leap to its feet for a long ovation.

My thoughts went to what the Bible says about sin in Proverbs 14:9, “Fools make a mock of sin, but among the righteous there is favor.”  Having been a fool myself, it’s easy to identify fools.

The dictionary defines a fool as a person with little or no judgment, common sense, wisdom, etc.; a silly or stupid person.

There are many characteristics of a fool listed in the Bible, but I’ll only name a few: To deny the existence of God, to live corrupt lives, to lack understanding, to ignore God, to go astray from God, and to become filthy in life.

As I struggle with my feelings about the outrageous California court’s decision, I have to keep in mind that God hates the sin of homosexuality, but He loves the sinner.  He is willing to forgive anyone of any sin if they are willing to change their sinful lifestyle.

The California Supreme Court made the decision, but the people most responsible  for their action are the churches in America that have quit preaching about sin in order to pacify their congregations.
