RESERVE– The Rebels boy’s squad dropped a close one to Ecole Classique Thursday night after a pair of three-pointers put Riverside in position to take their third win of the season, but the effort fell just short after the Spartans sank a handful of free throws to take a 52-49 win.

The game started out nicely for Riverside as they jumped out to a 14-8 lead by the end of the first period. By halftime, Ecole climbed right back into it for a 20-19 Rebel lead. The teams traded blows throught the fourth quarter all the way up to the final minute of play where David Serven tied it up at 45 apiece with a three pointer from the left corner.

But the Spartans took a four point lead after a couple of trips to the free throw line with :28 to play. Sophomore Timmy Teague pulled the Rebels back to within range on another three pointer from the left corner and Jarid Ceasar made it a three-point game on a foul shot, but the Rebels came up short with a half-court shot as time expired to hand them the 52-49 loss.

Ceasar led Riverside in scoring for the game with 12 points while Serven rounded out the scoring with 11.

The loss puts the Rebels at 2-9 on the season as they are set to get back to action with the Riverside Academy Holiday Classic this Monday.
