LAPLACE — A 42-year old LaPlace resident was attacked, and robbed at gunpoint, when walking home from Airline Highway.
The resident went to the hospital after the attack and advised that he had been jumped by a man wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The victim claims that the suspect “struck him several times in the face with his fist.”
Then the suspect “pulled out a silver colored pistol, and demanded money from him.”
The victim said he gave the suspect about $90 in cash, and the suspect fled the scene, at the corner of Cartier Drive and Jasper Lane in LaPlace, according to the victim.
St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that the case is still being investigated, and the victim was treated, then released from River Parish Hospital with “a broken jaw and swelling to the left side of his face.”
