Lutcher blows past Salmen, 44-21

LUTCHER — The Lutcher Bulldogs pulverized Salmen Friday night with a 44-21 score, with most of the scoring in a dizzying second quarter.

The first quarter opened with Rashad Webster on a 26-yard run with 7:12 left on the clock. PAT was by Terrance Jeffery, to make it 7-0.

Salmen’s B. Humber scored on a 12-yard run, with a Rearse PAT to knot the score at 7-7 with 4:40 remaining.

Then the second quarter started.

Chaddrick Adams scored on a 40-yard interception return with 9:58 on the clock. Jeffery made it 14-7.

Khymest Williams then scored on a 62-yard run with 7:07 on the clock, making it 21-7 with the PAT.

Lutcher then scored a two-point safey with 5:28 remaining, boosting the Bulldogs to 23-7.

Blaine Gauthier then passed 59 yards to Juan Johnson for the next score with 5:09 remaining. Jeffery made it 30-7.

Gauthier then connected again, this time a 28-yard pass to Williams, making the halftime tally 37-7.

The third quarter went scoreless for both teams, as the ball knocked up and down the field with little effect except on the stat sheet.

In the fourth quarter, Danny Zimmerman scored for Salmen on a two-yard run with 10:50 left in the game. A two-point conversion try failed, and Lutcher held onto a 37-13 lead.

Todd Muse then scored on a two-yard run with 5:26 remaining. With the Jeffery PAT, that edged the score to 44-13.

Finally, Thornhill for Salmen scored on a two-yard run with 1:56 remaining. A two-point conversion try failed, and Lutcher had the victory by the considerable 44-21.
