NEW ORLEANS – In commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the End of t World War II, the National D-Day Museum will remember the largest airborne operation of America’s Greatest War.

Sixty years ago allied paratroopers jumped across the Rhine River into Germany. On Saturday, March 19, the Museum will host a special event from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. to pay tribute to this historic moment along with the other airborne operations that took place during the Second World War.

Several activities have been scheduled to revisit this unforgettable time in history, such as tactical briefings, firepower demonstrations and a panel discussion with World War II airborne veterans. There will also be displays of airborne weapons, equipment and uniforms as well as a temporary special exhibit titled Green Light Go! Airborne Operations in WWII. The modern day US Army airborne will also be a part of the event with a display of the types of gear used to train paratroopers at Fort Benning today.
