TEN STAR ALL-STAR BASKETBALL CAMP

Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All-Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by Invitation Only. Boys and Girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include: Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antwan Jamison. Players from 50 states and 17 Foreign Countries attended the 2004 Camp. College Basketball Scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team. Camp Locations Include: Lebanon, TN, Prescott, AZ, Belmont, CA, Thousand Oaks, CA, Sterling, CO, Bridgeport, CT, Babson Park, FL, Atlanta, GA, Carlinville, IL, Macomb, IL, Greencastle, IN, Atchison, KS, Baltimore, MD, Ypisilanti, MI, Hickory, NC, Schenectady, NY, Bluffton, OH, Doylestown, PA, Commerce, TX, and Blacksburg, VA.

ALUMNI GAME SET

St. Charles Catholic will host an alumni men’s basketball game on Friday, Jan. 21 following the Comets game against Vanderbilt Catholic. Odd years will take on the even years at approximately 8:30 p.m. There is no cost to play in the game and there will be shooting contests at halftime of the varsity boys’ game. GOLF SHOOTOUT

LaPlace area junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in The Shootout on Thompson Creek at The Bluffs in St. Francisville, La. (North of Baton Rouge) on Jan. 29-30th. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is sanctioned and ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the four-state (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida) Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour. Discounted hotel accommodations are available at the Best Western St. Francis on the Lake ($62.00 per night). The event is one of eleven Louisiana tournaments on the Arrowhead schedule. BOGALUSA RUN SET

BOGALUSA – The annual Milltown Classic 5K Walk/Run will jump-start Bogalusa’s Mardi Gras parade beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 5.

5K cash awards of $50 will be given to the overall winners in both male and female categories.

Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. The fee is $15 for adult participants and $7 for children under 12.

All racers will receive a long-sleeved t-shirt and may attend a post-Classic social that will include food and beverages for participants.
