St. John

BODDEN

LULING – Kirkwood Bodden Sr., 81, a native of Roatan, Honduras and resident of Luling for the past five years, died March 20. He was the husband of Dorvin Alexis Bodden and the father of Glenn, Danny, Morall, George, Kirkwood Jr. and Edward Bodden and Patricia, Julia Bodden and stepfather of Kannady Stamp.

He was also the brother of Esau Brooks, Longworth Bodden, Lydia Hicks.

He is survived by 34 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Services were March 24 at Luling United Methodist Church, with interment in Mt. Airy Cemetery.

BROWN

LAPLACE – Deforest Marie (Dee) Brown, 63, A native and resident of LaPlace, died March 23. She was the mother of Judge Penny Brown Reynolds, A’yango Brown, Keisha Brown and Monica Brown Mealey.

She was the daughter of the late Roy and Blanche Brown and sister of Burnell Harris, Reno, Randell and Lionel Brown, Blanche Cambre, Sylvia Scott and Theresa Williams.

She is survived by three grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m at Mt. Clavary Baptist Church, LaPlace with interment in Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

COLLINS

LUTCHER – Gerald “Jerry” Collins, 55, a native of Paulina and resident of New Orleans for the past 10 years, died March 20.

He was the son of Leroy Collins Sr. and brother of Terrail Collins, Mary Ann Aguillard, Audrey McField, Vera C. Smith and Carol DeTiege.

He was a self-employed produce salesman, member of the New Genesis Bible Church and a former member of First Community Antioch Baptist Church in Lutcher.

Services were March 25 at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.

COOPER

RESERVE – Cecile Duhe Vicknair Cooper, 82, a native of Reserve, former resident of Ponchatoula and resident of Reserve, died March 24. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Ozeme Vicknair Jr. and by second marriage of the late Austin Cooper and mother of Allen Vicknair and step-mother of Paul Cooper.

She was also the daughter of the late Paul and Louise Duhe and sister of Eunice Tassin, Rosa Galatas, Early Duhe Sr., and the late Murphy, Lester, Leroy and Harris Duhe.

She is survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services are today at 10:30 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment in church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.

ENSINGER

LAPLACE – Martha Johnson Ensminger, 71, a native of Mississippi and resident of Laplace for the past 40 years, died March 23, 2004. She was the wife of Donald Ensminger and by first marriage of the late Dewey V. Johnson and mother of Beverly Jacob, Becky Rojas, Ronnie Johnson and Gail Johnson.

She was also the daughter of the late Oneal and Loyce Cox and sister of Peggy Johnson, Jimmy and Joe Cox and the late Billy Cox.

She is survived by four grandchildren and three great grand children.

Services were March 26 at at Lutheran Church of the Galilean, LaPlace, with interment in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Laplace.

HARRIS

RESERVE – Ernest “”Birdie” C. Harris, 67, a native of Reserve and resident of Lutcher died March 20. He was the husband of Geraldine Cola Harris and father of Angela, Andre, Troy, Harlon and Dawn Harris, Evangeline Tremble and Yolanda Jefferson.

He was also the son of Lillian Harris Williams and the late Henry Harris, Sr., stepson of George Williams and brother of Retia Albertha “Pinkie” Henderson, Elouise Eugene, and the late Henry Harris Jr. and Dorothy Thompson.

He is survived by 14 grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

KELLER

Elda Breaux Keller, 95, a native of Welsh, LA and a resident of Lutcher died March 24. She was the wife of the late Milton Keller Sr., and the mother of Milton Jr., Bobbie , Roy, Leon, Ray, Thomas and Daniel Keller, Betty Kelly Joyce Delahokukssaye.

She was also the daughter of ther late Eddie and Theresa Babin Breaux and the sister of Eddie Breaux and the late Phillip, Cevera, and Leo Breaux, Beatrice Concienne, Ruth Thibodaux and Marie Ledet.

She is survived by 48 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Services are today at 1 p.m. at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MCNALLY

George Keith McNally, two days old, born in Kenner and lived in Paradis, died on March 21. He was the son of Amy Leigh Chighizola and George Keith McNally Sr. and the brother of Savannah Blysse Daily McNally.

He was also the grandson of of Julie and Luke Chighizola, Angela McNally and David Butt and great-grandson of Sal Palermo, Barbara Martin, Anna Mae and Paul Chighizola and June and George Scallan.

Services were March 26 at Letiz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories.

MOREAU

METAIRIE – Essie Bordelon Moreau, 77, a native of Marksville and a resident of Destrehan, died March 22.

She was the wife of Leon Moreau Jr. and the mother of Linda Dell and Claudia Rhodes.

She was also the daughter of the late Linda Dell and Claudia Rhodes, and the sister of Lee Bordelon, Jeane Collins, and the late Richard Bordelon, Linster Lemoine and Rhea Guillory.

She is survived by four grandchildren and nine great grandchild.

Services were March 25 at Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Lake Lawn Park.

OUBRE

Lowell Paul Oubre, 54, died March 25. He was the husband of Melva Tipton Oubre and the father of Mandy Falgoust, Connie Hebert, Shannon Ferguson, Chet Oubre and Richard Naquin, Jr.

He also was the son of Therese Gravois Oubre and brother of Eddie Oubre Jr., Catherine Hymel and Annette Stein.

He is survived by five grandchildren

Services were March 26 at Our Lady of Peace Church Hall, Vacherie, with interment in church mausoleum.

VINNETT

ST. ROSE – Stanley W. Vinnett Jr., 53, a native and resident of Luling, died March 22.

He was the husband of Dorothy Brown Vinnett and father of Terrill Shawn, Darius Rasaan and Shaunte’ Joi Vinnett.

He was also the son of Maybell Moliere Vinnett. and the late Stanley W. Vinnett Sr. .and the brother of Ivon Royce Vinnett, Gwendolyn V. Robinson and Diana V. Anderson.

He is survived by one grandchild.

Services are today at 10 a.m.at Fifth African Baptist Church, St. Rose, with interment in Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, Metairie. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

WILSON

RESERVE – Audrey Mae Wilson, 64, a native and resident of LaPlace, died on March 23.

She was the wife of the late Ignatius ”Chief” Wilson, Sr. and the mother of Ignatius Wilson, Jr., Keith Wilson, Sr. and Ron Wilson, Sr.

She was also the daughter of Felice Creecy Brown and the late Freddie Anderson, Sr. and the sister of Octave, Larry, Joey, Randolph, Danny and Clayton Anderson, Mary Ann Parquet, Anita Clement, Elisa Perilloux, Freddie Lee Brown, Brenda Exum and the late Sylvia Anderson.

She is survived by seven grandchildren.

Services were March 26 at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment in St. John Memorial Garden Cemetery, LaPlace.
