CHAMPAGNE

WESTWEGO – Oscar J. Champagne, 65, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Westwego for 43 years, died April 17. He was the husband of Evamae Duett Champagne and father of Diane Comardelle, Kirk, Darryl and Kenneth Champagne.He was also the brother of Doris Bolding, Lucille Gaubert, Marie Gaubert, Earline, Herbert, Willie, Louis, Edward and Andrew Champagne.He is also survived by six grandchildren.Services were held April 20 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Westwego, with interment at the church mausoleum.FELTON
GARYVILLE – Pauline B. Felton, 76, a native and resident of Garyville, died April 16. She was the wife of Alfred Felton Sr. and mother of Mary Harvey, Kim Jones, Alfred Jr., Kerry, Claudette and Michelle Felton, and the late Paulette and Brenda Felton.She was also the daughter of the late Edgard Sr. and Mary Borne, and sister of Catherine, Ellis, Edgard II and Raymond Borne.She is also survived by eight grandchildren.Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. NEW ORLEANS – Clarence R. “Sonny” Hotard Sr., 70, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan for the past five years, died April 17. He was the husband of Maxine Loyacano Hotard and father of Deborah Horn, Julie Lejeune, Darlene Kreuger, Jean Ann, Milton, William and Clarence Hotard Jr.He was also the son of the late Milton and Clara Hotard, and brother of Roy Hotard, and the late Donald and Earl Hotard.He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Services were held April 20 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Lake Lawn Park.HOWARD
VACHERIE – The Rev. Ernest Howard Jr., 61, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Vacherie for many years, died April 13. He was the brother of Dorothy Batiste, Percy Sr. and Oregon Howard Sr.He was the pastor of Greater Woodville Baptist and Highway Baptist churches. He was a former librarian and assistant principal at Fifth Ward Elementary School. He was second vice-president of Central Union Missionary Baptist Assocation, and an executive board member of second District Missionary Baptist Association.Services are today at 11 a.m. at Highway Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.MONGRUE
LULING – Barbara Touchard Mongrue, 67, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Luling, died April 17. She was the wife of Leo Mongrue and mother of David, Marti, Michael and Rhett Mongrue.She was also the daughter of the late Felix Jr. and Ena Labat Touchard, and sister of June, Felix III, and the late Myron Touchard Sr.She is also survived by six grandchildren.Services were held April 19 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.NICHOLAS
CONVENT – Clarence Nicholas Sr., 93, a native and resident of Convent, died April 18. He was the husband of Louise Nicholas and father of Angella Williams, Vivian Felton, Gladys Vancourt, Ella Mae Nailor, Louise, Lillian, Doris, Clarence Jr. and Hilton Nicholas.He was also the son of the late Edmond and Virginia Nicholas and brother of Lou Ella Mitchell and Fredrick Nicholas.He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.Services are today at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Convent. AMA – Larry “Woolite” Woods, 49, a native of Ama and resident of New Orleans, died April 14. He was the father of Ryan, Jamie, Larry Jr., Lance and Ashley Woods.He was also the son of Marion Baker Weber, and the late Allery Woods Sr., and brother of Deborah Thomas, Deidra Weber and Allery Woods Jr.He is also survived by one grandchild.Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Ama, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
