BOURGEOIS METAIRIE – Thelma Haydel Brown Bourgeois, 92, a native of Garyville and resident of New Orleans for 72 years, died Dec. 5. She was the mother ofShelby Delhomme and Donald and Wayne Bourgeois.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 7 at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment atAll Saints Mausoleum.

COLE-JONES RESERVE – Germaine Cole-Jones, 37, a native of Norco and resident of Reserve, died Dec. 5. She was the wife of Sherman Jones Sr. and mother ofCarlita Coleman and Ariana and Sherman Jones Jr.

She was also the daughter of Milton and Carolyn Laurent Cole and sister of Devaliant Cole.

She is also the granddaughter of Dorothy Cole of Gramercy.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Lions, withinterment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan. Visitation startsat 10 a.m.

DAY NEW ORLEANS – Leondia Alfred Day, 91, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans for 76 years, died Dec. 5. She was the wife of the late ErnestDay and mother of Emma Thomas, Adalee Smith, Olga McGee and Linder, Norman and Jimmy Day.

She was the daughter of the late Paul and Marie Charlon Alfred and sister of the late Marie Schexnayder, Mathilda Landry and George, Paul, Fergus, Oliver and Emile Alfred.

She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, NewOrleans, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale. Visitation starts at9 a.m.

ESTES NORCO – Forsee “Jack” Estes, 81, a native of Guion, Ark., and resident ofDestrehan, died Dec. 6. He was the husband of the late Lena Mae TreadawayEstes and father of Michelle Harris, Darlene Wise and John H. Estes Sr.He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason and was the founder of GNOTS-RESERVE in Destrehan.

Services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home,Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. In lieuof flowers, donations are encouraged to The Shriners Children’s Hospital, c/o Jerusalem Temple, P.O. Box 712, Destrehan, La. 70047-0712.

GAUDET LAPLACE – Howard T. Gaudet Sr., 82, a native of Hahnville and resident ofLaPlace for 21 years, died Dec. 5. He was the husband of the late MaryMigliore Gaudet and father of Mona Loisel and Gail, Howard Jr. and ShellyGaudet.

He was also the son of the late Thomas and Corinne Gaudet and brother of Vivian Jacob, Mildred Toye and Clifford and Wade Gaudet.

He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 7 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace,with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.

HAWKINS LUTCHER – Harold James Hawkins, 75, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 1. He was the father of Yolanda Osuh and Tyrell J. Hawkins.He was the son of the late Nealy and Carrie Cooper Hawkins.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 8 at United Methodist Church Lutcher Chapel, withinterment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher.

KELLY ST. JAMES – Ruth Charles Kelly, 83, a native of St. James and resident ofNew Orleans, died Dec. 4. She was the wife of the late Ceasar Kelly andmother of Ceasar Shannon, Shirley Smith, Olivia Jackson and Warren Kelly.

She was also the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Charles and sister of Eula Mae Henry, Sophie Mae Landry, Delores Mayo, Albert, Herman and Joseph Charles and the late Irma Dennis and Arthur Sr., Frank Sr., Ford Sr.,James, Floyd and Herbert Charles.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at noon at St. Luke Baptist Church, St. James, withinterment at Moonshine Cemetery, Moonshine. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

LABICHE RESERVE – Thelma Bourgeois Labiche, 83, a native of Paulina and resident of Reserve, died Dec. 6. She was the wife of the late Louis Labiche and motherof Suzanne Marroy.

She was also the daughter of the late Edwin and Ophelia Bourgeois and sister of the late Mercedes Roussel, Beatrice Erdal, Agnes Englade, Margaret Souquet and Lionel, Rodney, Alvin, Gordon and Lester Bourgeois.

She is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

LONDON BATON ROUGE – Louis London, 72, a native of Lutcher and resident of Baton Rouge, died Dec. 1. He was the companion of Lizzie Norman.He was also the son of the late Thomas and Pearl London and brother of Shirley Weathers.

Services are today at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Winnfield Funeral Home,with interment at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10a.m.

MAGEE NEW ORLEANS – Robert James Magee, 39, a native of Reserve and resident of New Orleans, died Dec. 5. He was the father of Chatari Magee.He was also the son of Johnnie Sr. and Dolores Griffin Magee, brother ofImogene, Johnnie Jr., Joseph and Gilbert Magee and grandson of Alter MaeToppins.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Rescue Missionary Baptist Church, NewOrleans, with interment at Magee Family Cemetery, Franklinton. Visitationstarts at 9 a.m.

MORRIS GRAMERCY – Darrel A. Morris Sr., 23, a native and resident of Lutcher, diedDec. 5. He was the father of Jaya and Jai Lewis, DaRont’e Landry and DarrelMorris Jr.

He was also the son of son of Darrel Johnson Sr. and Carolyn Morris andbrother of Kevin Johnson, Annette Greenwood, Tammy Sylvan, Wendell Sutherland, Rose Jenkins, Grace Brooks and Catherine, Darrel Jr., Corneliusand Damon Morris.

Services are today at noon at Golden Grove Baptist Church, Gramercy, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

SEWELL BAYOU GAUCHE – The Rev. James R. Sewell, 68, a native of Illinois Bend,Texas, and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 3. He was the husband of NaomiRuth Dufrene Sewell and father of Sherilyn Derrick and Wendell Sewell.

He was also the brother of Zelma Moore, Marcia Groves, Norene Anderson and Eugene, the Rev. John and Donald Sewell.He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was a retired minister and the former pastor for the Assembly of God churches in Plaquemine, Hammond, Pineville, Holloway, Dry Prong and Hattiesburg, Miss.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Community Assembly of God Church, BayouGauche, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche. Visitation startsat 10 a.m.

SIMON RESERVE – Vincent A. Simon Sr., 74, a native of Vacherie and resident ofReserve for 38 years, died Dec. 5. He was the husband of Elta Mae LetulleSimon and father of Debbie Stoltz, Abigail Nobles, Vincent Jr. and TracySimon.

He was also the son of the late Prudent Sr. and Olphida Simon and brother ofAllen, Lawrence, Neil, Floyd and Pelham Simon and the late Eunice Abadie, Blanche Poche, Rose Villnerve, Pearl Attenhoffer and Prudent Jr., Daniel andVivian Simon.

He is also survived by four grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and owner-operator of Riverlands Pest Controlsfrom 1962 to 1986.

Services were Dec. 8 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with intermentat the church cemetery.

VOROS LULING – Robert Louis “Buck” Voros, 40, a native of St. Charles Parish andresident of Luling, died Dec. 6. He was the former husband of Carla D. Farrar.He was also the son of the late Alex and Mildred East Voros and brother of Jack and the late William Voros.

Services were Dec. 8 at United Methodist Church, Luling, with interment atSt. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.

WHANN KENNER – Shirley Mire Whann, 56, a native of St. Rose and resident ofDestrehan, died Dec. 5. She was the wife of Robert J. Whann Sr. and motherof Robert Whann Jr.

She was also the daughter of Whitney and Victoria “V.V.” Cashio Mire.She is also survived by two grandchildren.

She was an account clerk at Destrehan Drugs.

Services were Dec. 7 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home,Kenner, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.

WHITNEY THIBODAUX – Monsignor Philip Whitney, 80, a native of New Orleans, resident of New Orleans for many years and resident of Thibodaux, died Dec. 5.He was the son of the late Claire Tinney Whitney and Philip Whitney Sr. andbrother of Claire Lottinger, Genevieve Darsey, Stanley Whitney and the late Ella, Leo Sr., Stephen and John Whitney.He was a retired priest and, among other assignments, was a pastor at St.

John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard. He was ordained in 1947 andappointed a monsignor in 1991 by Pope John Paul II. He retired in 1992.Services are today at noon at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, Thibodaux, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.
