Calorie coach promotes healthy living: Lindsay Cambre using Sensible Meals to help River Parishes

LUTCHER — Lindsay Cambre’s favorite part of being a calorie coach is seeing a renewed sense of confidence brighten her clients’ lives.

Over the past year, Cambre has led many individuals to a healthier lifestyle through her virtual coaching service, Healthy Living with Lindsay.

As a St. James Parish resident serving as a Sensible Meals ambassador, she’s helped clients in the River Parishes and beyond find success through a diet based on moderation, not deprivation.

Cambre said the results have been astounding, and she’s loved following the progress of more than 800 clients since starting her coaching service in January 2017.

Sensible Meals clients receive 15 pre-packaged meals, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner for Monday through Friday.

“Losing weight rolls into different avenues of your life besides just what the scale says,” Cambre said.

“It’s about feeling happy; no longer avoiding public events because they don’t feel good in their own skin; repairing strained relationships and friendships.”

With 12 years of experience as a licensed counselor, Cambre is accustomed to helping others adapt to changes through confidential, individually tailored plans.

She said coaching plays an integral role in a person’s weight loss journey and can be especially helpful in the first months of adapting to the Sensible Meals diet.

When clients are tempted to cheat, Cambre is just a phone call away. When weight loss plateaus, she’s there with encouraging words and suggestions to move past the slump, whether it is through dietary adjustments or fitness plans.

“Losing weight is hard, so when you have someone you can go to, it adds another level of success,” Cambre said. “I really feel that my clients are my family, and I’m just as invested in their success as they are for themselves.”

Cambre lost 30 pounds after starting Sensible Meals in 2016. The quality and convenience of meal options inspired her to introduce the program to others.

Coach Lindsay Cambre describes the meals as “normal, typical food” like waffles, red beans, enchiladas and lasagna. “You don’t feel deprived and tempted to cheat because you get all that good stuff, but in a smaller portion size,” Cambre said.

Each week, a client receives 15 pre-packaged meals, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner for Monday through Friday.

“It’s normal, typical food,” Cambre said, citing waffles, red beans, enchiladas and lasagna as examples of meals offered through the program. “You don’t feel deprived and tempted to cheat because you get all that good stuff, but in a smaller portion size.”

Meals are ready to eat after being popped into the microwave, according to Cambre, making it a perfect option for parents pressed for time in the kitchen.

Aimee Perret of Edgard started Sensible Meals in May to shake off pregnancy weight gain after the birth of her fourth child.

She said Lindsay has been warm and supportive throughout the process.

“Lindsay is phenomenal,” Perret said. “She’s super easy to get in touch with and very encouraging, even when you plateau.”

Perret said working with Lindsay has given her the confidence to “put herself out there” and show pride in her 35-pound weight loss.

Aimee Perret of Edgard recently lost 35 pounds using the Sensible Meals program led by Lindsay Cambre. Perret said Cambre is easy to get in touch with and very encouraging, “even when you plateau.”

She plans to continue working with Lindsay and staying on the diet regimen, which fits perfectly into her busy schedule.

“It’s definitely the way to go for a busy mom,” Perret said.

Cambre said Sensible Meals retrains a person’s mentality about food, putting emphasis on its role as fuel for the body.

The most popular single protein 1,000-calorie plan costs $80 a week, averaging less than $6 a meal.

The $100 double protein plan is ideal for men, nursing or expectant mothers and those looking to maintain weight loss, Cambre said.

River Region clients can pick up meals in Metairie or Gonzales or choose to have five days of food shipped to their address for a $15 fee.

On weekends, clients follow recommended calorie intakes while learning to prepare their own healthy food options.

Clients do not need to order Sensible Meals to benefit from coaching services, Cambre said, though most do. In the future, Cambre would love to secure an office space where clients can visit to share stories and success.

While coaching is currently virtual, Cambre said she’s more than happy to arrange face-to-face meetings with local clients in public spaces.
