RESERVE — Authorities are searching for two men following the violent, strong-armed home invasion of a Reserve residence Friday night.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said deputies are looking for two black males, described as slim, who were dressed in black and wearing black gloves and masks.

The perpetrators fled a residence in 400 block of Homewood Place in Reserve with approximately $10 cash, Tregre said in a release, which they stole from one of their victims.

“One male victim and his wife were hit with a rifle during the assault,” Tregre said. “They both refused medical attention.”

Sgt. Dane Clement said the victims were struck with the butt of the gun around the neck and head area.

He said detectives feel the victims were specifically targeted because of information gathered through the investigation.

Deputies responded to the home at 11:46 p.m. Friday after it was reported two armed men approached two male victims, ages 33 and 32, while they were talking outside their residences. The perpetrators, one armed with a rifle and the other armed with a handgun, demanded money and forced the victims in the house.

“The wife of one of the male victims hid in the bathroom to call 911 to report the incident,” Tregre said. “One of the perpetrators forced her from the bathroom to the front of the house.”

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.

Those with information about the break-in do not have to testify in court and may qualify for a cash reward. Residents can also submit tips on the Sheriff’s Office website at stjohnsheriff.org/submitatip.php.
