Sheriff’s Office offers lifesaving tips during childcare awareness class

Sheriff Champagne proudly hosted another Childcare Awareness Class at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, July 31.

This class provided children of babysitting age — about 12-18 — with training in lifesaving techniques.

Deputy Stephen Banegas taught first aid, CPR, and when someone should call 9-1-1 and Tyrell Cornwell with the St. Charles Women’s Club gave a presentation bringing awareness to child and
pet vehicular heatstroke.

For more information on this program, contact Jessi Allday with Special Services at 985-783-1355 or jallday@stcharlessheriff.org.

Another class will be held during the Christmas holiday school break.
