St. James celebrates Survivor Luncheon

LUTCHER — The St. James Parish Relay for Life Leadership Team, under the direction of Event Leader Brandi Louque and Co-Lead er Bridget Matherne, recently hosted its annual Spring Survivors’ Luncheon at the Lutcher Public Relations Building.

Survivors and caregivers were treated to a wonderful event that included a survivor speaker, home-cooked lunch, games and giveaways. The event celebrates survivors and their guests — the caregivers that are vital in a person’s fight against cancer.

The celebration was a prelude to the actual Relay event, which will be held April 1 at Lutcher Park.

Survivors are encouraged to attend the event, which begins at 11 a.m. Survivors will receive a T-shirt and be recognized through a special lap honoring their fight.

If you are a survivor and need to preregister, call 800-277-2345, option 2. Explain that you want to complete a survivor registration over the phone.

The Leadership Team would like to thank lunch sponsor Spuddy’s Cajun Foods and gift sponsor Big River Shell Station. The Leadership Team also recognizes Beth Poche, Survivor Lead, for organizing the event.

This year’s Relay — Hope Fest — will also include a 5K, Cabbage Ball Tournament and Cook-Off (sampler platters for sale). For more information, visit relayforlife.org and search for the “Lutcher” event or “like” the Relay for Life of St. James Facebook Page.
