RESERVE — A Metairie man was arrested last week in St. John the Baptist Parish in connection with the rape of a 4-year-old girl in Jefferson Parish, authorities said.

Gerson Rodriguez, 27, was arrested after St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies received a tip at 6:02 p.m. alerting them to the 1800 block of Lee Drive in Reserve, Sheriff Mike Tregre said.

“Deputies made contact with a man at the residence,” Tregre said. “Initially, the man denied he was Gerson Rodriguez, 27, of Metairie. When investigators presented a photograph of the wanted man, he admitted he was Gerson Rodriguez.”

Rodriguez was arrested without incident and booked as a fugitive.

He was wanted by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office on an arrest warrant for first-degree rape, Tregre said.

Rodriguez was released to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Thursday evening.
