The River Region Chamber of Commerce commemorated a significant milestone as it celebrated twenty years of fostering collaboration and making a positive impact within the St. James, St. John, and St. Charles communities. The occasion took center stage during the 2024 Annual Banquet held on Thursday, January 18, where over 100 members of the business community convened at the Legacy Venue and Restaurant in Luling to reflect on past achievements and chart a course for the future.

“Twenty years ago, visionary business professionals came together to establish this organization with a mission rooted in regionalism, cooperation, and solidarity. With a membership exceeding 300 businesses, the chamber remains steadfast in its commitment to cultivating relationships that transcend parish boundaries,” remarked Chassity McComack, Executive Director. “Our focus remains on fostering credibility and fostering a sense of community.”

Guests were treated to an insightful keynote address delivered by Paul Matthews, the CEO of Port of South Louisiana. Matthews’ remarks not only provided valuable insights but also ignited optimism among local business leaders grappling with a rapidly evolving economic landscape.

The event also served as the platform for the introduction of Libby Hotard as the Chamber’s new Board Chair. Hotard, representing MPLX GP LLC, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. She succeeds Diane Jackson, whose leadership and contributions played a pivotal role in the Chamber’s growth and success.

“I am both honored and humbled to assume the role of Chair for the River Region Chamber of Commerce in 2024. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with the Board of Directors to implement strategies that foster economic growth and bolster the success of our members, ensuring that the voice of the business community resonates loud and clear,” remarked Hotard.

The success of the event was made possible through the generous support of several organizations that have demonstrated unwavering commitment over the years, including Port of South Louisiana (Title Sponsor), Dow and Shell (Platinum Sponsors), and Associated Terminals (Gold Sponsor). Additional appreciation was extended to Cox Business, Denka, EisnerAmper, Entergy, First American Bank & Trust, IMTT, Rev/Rev Business, LA River Parishes Tourist Commission, Mosaic, and Louisiana Federal Credit Union.
