February 28, 1969 – January 21, 2024

Blaine Alan Wear, a resident of Leitchfield, Kentucky and a native of Greenback, Tennessee, and LaPlace, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 54. He was the beloved husband of Laura Lucia Wear and the father of Blaine (B.W.) Wear, Jr. and Breck Middleton (Jordan) and the grandfather of Harper and Flynn Middleton.

Blaine attended Greenback Elementary and graduated from Greenback High School. He also attended East St. John High School in Reserve, Louisiana; Elizabethtown Community College; and the University of Cumberlands where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. He is a published author best known for the Children’s Book, Boogie Monster, which enjoins children to see the inner beauty of others as opposed to judging people on outside appearances.

Blaine was a 14-year veteran of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Department in LaPlace, Louisiana. He was injured on duty and retired from the Sheriff’s Office in 2002. He was a member of the Pastoral Staff at Bethal Church in McDaniels, Kentucky where he was called to Evangelize to the Nations traveling through Appalachia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ukraine, Russia, and Africa. Blaine was a gifted person with an uncanny sense of humor and socially adept, bonding easily with people, and able to communicate their importance to him. He often sacrificed personal endeavors, spending his time listening to problems well into the night. He loved people and people loved him. He never met a stranger. But most of all, he loved his family which was his everything.

He is survived by his brothers John Melbourne Wear (Sonya) and Randy Lee Wear (Yolanda); his mother-in-law, Dr. Judy Petit; sister-in-law, Leigh Lucia Hoover (Michael); brother-in-law, Charles V. Lucia (Laura); nephews Adam, Noah, Joshua, and Ryan (Joane) Hoover; his nephew Christian Wear (Caitlyn); and his niece Kaleigh McAllster.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Melbourne Wear; his mother, Velma Sue Hebert Wear; his brother, Kevin Hall Wear; his father-in-law, Joseph A. Lucia, Jr.; his brother-in-law, Lt Col Joseph A. Lucia III (Dawn) and his nephew, baby Zachery Charles Hoover.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM and a Visitation from 11:00 AM until Service time on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at The Restoration Place; 115 Sequoia Dr.; Leitchfield, Ky., officiated by Pastor Andy Vance. Internment is at the Leitchfield Memorial Gardens, 2203 Brandenburg Road, Leitchfield, Ky. Funeral Arrangements are by Dermitt Funeral Home, 306 W. Main St. Leitchfield, KY. 42755.
