Parish President Jaclyn Hotard is pleased to announce that St. John the Baptist Parish is the recipient of the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s Next 100 Years Challenge Grant for our pilot project: “A multi-scale green infrastructure strategy and project for St. John the Baptist Parish to provide nature-based stormwater management solutions for our residents.” The Foundation awarded $100,000 through a regional competition designed to inspire plans for community-centered and cost-effective infrastructure improvements.
This funding will allow us to leverage community partnerships through the pilot project that will help address the threat of storms and other disasters while increasing resiliency and sustainability.
“I’d like to acknowledge St. John Parish Planning and Zoning Director Tara Lambeth and the Planning and Zoning team for putting together the vigorous application and also thank the Greater New Orleans Foundation for recognizing our hard work,” said Parish President Hotard. “Partnering with organizations such as the Greater New Orleans Foundation to address regional challenges ensures we are doing everything we can to protect our community for the next 100 years,” said Parish President Hotard.
While the initial funding will help pay for a pilot project, the Parish plans to apply for additional funding to continue developing a multilevel green infrastructure strategy for the Parish. For more information, visit Next100yearsChallenge.org.
