National Public Lands Day volunteer opportunity Saturday at Bonnet Carre Spillway

LULING, La. – Alongside the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Environmental Education Foundation, the St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation will host a volunteer workday on National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 23 from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway, located at 101 Lower Guide Levee Road in Norco.

All are welcome to attend and help clean up the Spillway’s various recreation areas and celebrate the connection between people and the outdoors. Lunch will be provided at the recreation area under the pavilion at 11:30 a.m.

Those attending should meet at the recreation area at the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway Lower Guide Levee Side in Norco. to be directed to various cleaning locations. Bring sunscreen, water, gloves and closed-toed shoes. At the conclusion of the workday, all are invited to fish and participate in various outdoor recreation activities.
