Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans to elect 1st African American board president

NEW ORLEANS The Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans (HBAGNO) will announce its 2024 Senior Officers, Board of Directors, and Council Representatives at its annual Installation & Awards Reception on Thursday, Nov. 30 at the Royal Palms in Harvey, La. The 2024 event will be emceed by Dan Mills, CEO of HBAGNO.

2024 President-elect Shivers Nellon will be the first African American to serve as Chairman of the HBAGNO in its 80+ year history.  Ms. Alicia Huey, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders, will be among the special invited guests and will perform the official installation.

“This is not just a milestone demonstrating the HBAGNO’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, but is evidence and affirmation that the industry is committed to recognizing the outstanding work of all its members by eliminating stereotypes of the past,” said Dan Mills, CEO of the HBAGNO.

In addition to his hard work and dedication to the HBAGNO over the past four years, Mr. Nellon is a licensed entrepreneur, holding Louisiana State Licensing Board License #558377. His relentless pursuit of excellence is not limited to his various businesses, which include Chase Remodeling and Construction, Inc., Nell Builders, LLC, Nell Investment Properties, LLC, and Nellon Holding, LLC, but also to his commitment to the greater New Orleans community through his selfless volunteer efforts.

Founded in 1941, the HBA provides members with continuing education, events for networking opportunities and advocacy to protect the home building industry. The HBA is a non-profit professional organization serving nearly 1,000 builders and associate members encompassing seven parishes throughout Louisiana, including Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. John the Baptist, St. James, St. Charles, Plaquemines, and Orleans. The Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans (HBAGNO) is currently celebrating over 80 years as the voice of the residential housing industry across the metro area.
