LAPLACE — Law enforcement officers are invited to attend a course, Meeting the Leadership Challenges of Law Enforcement, hosted by the St. John Sheriff’s Office in October.

Interested law enforcement agencies may attend the program October 3-5 at the LBJ Law Enforcement Training Center on Cambridge Drive in LaPlace.

The Legal and Liability Risk Management Institute and FBI National Academy Associates Inc. are sponsoring this program.

Michael Murphy will lead the program focusing on law enforcement topics, medicolegal death investigations, management topics. He has served as Chief of Police in Mesquite, Nevada, to Coroner for the Clark County of Nevada Office as well as Coroner/Medical Examiner for 13 years while simultaneously acting as the Interim Director of Juvenile Justice Services and Chief Lobbyist for the 76th & 77th Legislative Sessions of the Nevada Legislature.

As director of forensic services for The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia, he was responsible for the Long Term Missing and Unidentified, Forensic Services, Image Enhancement/Age Progression Units while serving as the National Amber Alert Coordinator.

A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Murphy also has a doctoral degree in Business Administration with California Pacific University.
