LAPLACE — It only took a year for Salad Depot to outgrow its original location on Cambridge Drive in LaPlace. Owners Joseph and Nicole White recently celebrated the restaurant’s grand re-opening at 299 Belle Terre Blvd. Ste. F, a larger location that will allow for greater community impact.

Salad Depot began with Nicole White’s vision to expand healthy meals options in St. John Parish beyond the usual fried food selections. She began the business out of her home in October 2021 and opened the first brick and mortar location in 2022, offering a selection of fresh salads, wraps, soups and more.

The larger footprint of the new Belle Terre location provides a convenient space to host meetings, parties, baby showers, bridal showers and banquets. Salad Depot can accommodate up to 75 people in one room or up to 150 when both rooms are utilized.

The business has also expanded its menu to satisfy the tastebuds of the St. John Parish community. Favorite additions include pita bread flips and chicken salad on croissants. Grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, and grilled salmon are prepared fresh each day for salads, flips, and wrap sandwiches. Veggie wraps are also offered.

Other meals on the daily menu include Taco Tuesday nacho salads, corn and crab bisque, and chicken, sausage and Andouille gumbo. Catering options are available.

“I’m so thankful to be in this particular area because the overwhelming support from the parish has been awesome. I decided to do this to give everyone a healthier choice of eating. We don’t have that in St. John Parish,” White said.

During a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 30, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard shared that Salad Depot’s flips have become a favorite lunch option among her staff.

“It’s encouraging to hear that you outgrew your other location. We are thankful that as you are growing, you still chose St. John,” she said. “Where you plant your business is a choice. You could have chosen anywhere, and you chose St. John.”
