LAPLACE — The last day to register for the October 14 primary election, by mail or in person, is Wednesday, September 13.
If registering online through Geaux Vote Registration, the last day to register is Saturday, September 23. Online registration is now offered for new applicants and voters that need to make changes to their voter registration record. Early Voting Week is Saturday, September 30 through Saturday, October 7, excluding Sunday, when the office will be closed. Early voting locations will be opened 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the following locations: 1811 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace and 2393 Highway 18 in Edgard.
There are currently two options for early voting: In-person and by mail. In-Person voting is open to all voters in the Parish. No excuse is needed to vote during the early period. Mail voting has certain requirements to participate. A signed request is required with a valid reason for requesting ballots for this method of voting. Any voter that has attained the age of 65 may request ballots by mail and that request will be honored for all elections that the voter meets eligibility. A mail ballot request form may be requested by phone or downloaded from www.sos.la.gov. Requirements are listed as well as instructions for use.
Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, October 14.
