BATON ROUGE — Several Louisiana school districts received non-specific bomb threats early Monday morning. There is no indication that the threats are credible, according to a spokesperson from Louisiana State Police.
Classes were cancelled today in Livingston Parish out of an abundance of caution.
Other school districts across the state, including Ascension and St. James, have responded with heightened security.
St. James Parish Schools issued a statement Monday morning stating “no credible information indicates an imminent threat to our schools. In conjunction with the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, we will continue taking all necessary precautions to provide a safe and supportive learning environment. Also, we will have an additional law enforcement presence at all schools. We want to assure everyone that our students and staff’s safety and well-being remain our top priority.”
St. John the Baptist Parish Schools have not received bomb threats as of the time of this report.
