August 22, 1968 — Ultra modern in design, St. John the Baptist Parish’s newest school, the LaPlace Elementary School in Riverlands, pictured above, will open for the first time Monday when a new school year begins in the parish. In the lower part of the picture are the new “Saint” model homes in Carrollwood and the Riverlands swimming pool.
