GARYVILLE — Three students were checked at a local hospital and released after a school bus fell into a ditch Wednesday evening on Little Hope Street in Garyville.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday. All five students on board at the time of the accident are safe, according to Interim Superintendent Kendria Spears. The bus driver was also reported to be uninjured.

Spears said the bus driver was new to the route.
