EDGARD — Greenfield Louisiana is welcoming West St. John’s Rams back to school for the 2023-24 year by supporting two community events.

West St. John Elementary and West St. John High School will host a back-to-school event today, August 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the West St. John High School gym. This event is sponsored by the WSJH Alumni Association, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard and Greenfield Louisiana. The community will have food, games, music and a special surprise at the end. Greenfield will raffle off school supplies throughout the event. Parents or guardians must be present with their scholar to receive a bag.

Greenfield will also sponsor a school supply giveaway during a back-to-school splash hosted by Elev8ated Gents from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, August 6 at Juan Anthony Joseph Memorial Park in Edgard. The event will feature food, frinks, games, music and more.

Greenfield remains committed to supporting local schools and students as part of their plan to revitalize the community and regional economy, and the facility will provide safe, green and good-paying jobs for the local community. The company is constructing a grain export terminal in Wallace to help the West Bank transition to a “cleaner, more sustainable local economy that builds prosperity while also honoring and protecting the natural, cultural and historic resources of the region.” According to Greenfield officials, economic benefits will include investments in training and workforce development support for pillars of the community like West St. John High School, hundreds of additional jobs and activity at local small businesses, and millions of dollars in new tax revenue.
