Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I am announcing my candidacy for Councilman District 5 in St John Parish.
I have been honored to serve as your Councilman for the last three and one half years.
We have faced many challenges since I took office in 2020.  The Covid epidemic and later the devastating hurricane that bore down on us and caused major flooding and wind damage in the entire parish.
I am glad to say that we have come a long way in recovery efforts since the storm in 2021, but we still have more work to do.
The West Lakeshore levee has begun construction, and contracts have been let out on several sections of the levee between Reserve and the Bonnet Carre Spillway.  I regularly attend the monthly USACE update meeting at the Pontchartrain Levee District to keep abreast of the progress and any issues that may arise in the construction of this vital project.
Several other projects are in the works to upgrade our infrastructure in the parish.  We have started to consolidate our sewer systems from eight to two, replace the Laplace drinking water supply from the Ruddock wells, to a new water intake on the river. We are also cleaning and dredging many of our drainage canals that have not been touched in many years.  We are using a combination of existing bond money and FEMA disaster funds to finance this work.
I have a good working relationship with the administration and I look forward to working with my fellow councilmen and all parties involved to see these projects to completion.
Because of redistricting, I will lose the area south of Airline Highway from Walnut Street to the St. Charles parish line.  This area will now be represented by the District 1 Councilman.  The rest of the boundaries for District 5 will stay the same.
I look forward to working with all of the constituents of District 5, and I humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming election.
