LaPlace man arrested for shooting brother and one other

Ronald Davis, 18, of LaPlace, was arrested July 8, 2023 in connection to a shooting that left two men including Davis’ brother injured in a LaPlace neighborhood.
On Saturday, July 8, 2023, about 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Davis Court in LaPlace in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two male subjects shot, lying on the ground outside a residence. One victim, 18, from LaPlace, had a gunshot wound to his leg and side. Another victim, 21, of LaPlace, had a gunshot wound to his leg. Officers immediately applied tourniquets to the wounds of both victims. Shortly after, emergency medical services arrived on scene then transported the victims to area hospitals. The 18-year-old is in stable condition. The 21-year-old is in critical condition.
Through investigation, officers learned the suspect, later identified as Davis, fled to a nearby wooded area. Shortly after, officers apprehended Davis as he attempted to flee the woods.
Davis confessed to the shootings. The 18-year-old was the intended victim, officers learned, while Davis inadvertently shot the 21-year-old who was his brother.
Davis was charged with aggravated second degree battery (felony); and attempted second degree murder. Davis is being held in custody in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
