Slidell – Yesterday afternoon, shortly before 2:15 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on Interstate 12 near the Interstate 10 interchange in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Kyle Sweet of Pearl River.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Sweet was eastbound on Interstate 12 driving a 2022 Suzuki motorcycle. For reasons still under investigation, the Suzuki traveled off of the roadway to the left and impacted multiple trees.

Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Sweet sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained for analysis.

Troopers encourage all riders to attend an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur.
