Krewe Uniform Boutique’s opening was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony July 5 at 1336 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

LAPLACE — Krewe Uniform Boutique recently opened at 1336 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace, filling the shoes left by Children’s World as a new school year approaches.
Private school uniforms are available for St. Joan of Arc, St. Charles Catholic, Ascension of Our Lord, Riverside Academy and Assembly Christian students in Pre-K 2 through 12th grade. The store also features trendy boutique clothing in toddler through tween sizes.
Krewe Uniform Boutique was founded by a parent who saw a need for more school uniform retailers in St. John the Baptist Parish. She previously completed her back-to-school uniform shopping at Children’s World, a family-owned business that served the community from 1975 until 2021. Damage from Hurricane Ida was severe, and the Heritage Place Shopping Center that house Children’s World was demolished in 2022.
When an opportunity came to open Krewe Uniform Boutique in the Riverlands Shopping Center, the owner turned to the family that operated Children’s World for guidance.
“I reached out and learned they weren’t coming back. They actually mentored me with opening this store as far as what brands to carry,” she said.
The community can expect to find familiar, high quality uniform brands including Becky Thatcher and Tom Sawyer. Krewe Uniform Boutique also carries a selection of backpacks, hair bows, seasonal items, and other accessories. As the business grows, the owner intends to offer uniforms for public and private schools not only in St. John Parish, but also St. James and St. Charles.
The store’s soft opening took place in April. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held with St. John Parish officials and the River Region Chamber of Commerce on July 5, and a grand opening celebration will be planned soon for the back-to-school season.
