Flynn earned a BA in English from Southeastern Louisiana University, an MFA in Poetry from Pacific University in Oregon, and a certificate in Educational Leadership for Catholic Education from Merrimack College in Massachusetts. Flynn has taught in SCC’s English and Social Studies departments and has served as the Director of Admissions and Communications for the past three years.

Kelly Arnett, class of 1997, will serve at the Director of Admissions and Alumni at St. Charles Catholic for the 2023-2024 school year. When asked about her new role, Arnett said: “Being a huge advocate for the school, Director of Admissions is a job that will come naturally because SCC is a place that I truly believe in. I hope to show the students and parents in this area how St. Charles Catholic can educate the whole student academically and spiritually, allowing students to showcase their talents academically, athletically, or in extracurricular activities. It’s such an exciting time to be a COMET!”

Kelly Arnett returned to St. Charles Catholic High School after teaching for 20 years in St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools. She graduated from SCC in 1997 and continued her education at Southeastern Louisiana University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. This past year, Arnett taught World History, advised the yearbook team, and sponsored the JV cheerleaders while serving as the Director of Alumni. Arnett’s son, Ian, is a recent graduate, and her daughter, Adrienne, is entering the 10th grade at SCC. This upcoming school year, Arnett will move into Director of Admissions and Alumni, assisting incoming families and former students as they seek to interact with the Comet Family. Since joining the SCC staff, Weber has undertaken impressive improvement projects for his program, leading an educational partnership with Louisiana Federal Credit Union for the Introduction to Business class and renovating the boys locker room for his team.

Weber said of his new role: “I’m extremely honored to be the new Director of Development of St. Charles Catholic High School, my alma mater. I will take every opportunity to build upon the firm foundation of faith, family, and tradition. When I walked the halls of SCC back in 2012, SCC looked different physically, but faithfully, we’ve remained with God at the center of everything we do all along. We’ve grown together in facility, faith, and numbers. I am excited to see what the future holds for the Comet Family. But I am overjoyed for the new responsibility I have been entrusted with as Development Director.”

Her three daughters, Margaret, Allison, and Erin, are all recent graduates of SCC.

Of her new role, Powell said, “I am looking forward to continuing to work with SCC’s amazing faculty and staff in my capacity as Director of Human Resources, and I am very excited to be working with our dynamic Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Wayne Stein, our athletic staff, and volunteer coaches in my new capacity as Athletic/LHSAA compliance.
