On Friday, June 23, management communicated an event that occurred that same morning in LaPlace’s Planet Fitness. One of our usual members was conversing with another member and suddenly seemed to have passed out on the floor. Management realized that the member was not breathing and foaming from the mouth. Management then took immediate action by starting to perform CPR and using the AED. A different team member contacted 911 to get first responders dispatched to the location. Two other members stepped into the situation to help with compressions until EMS arrived. The member involved was not breathing for nearly five minutes before EMS arrived. In spite of the events, we are truly grateful to the gym manager and team who were proactively dealing with the nerve-racking situation. Management showed strong leadership during possibly one of the most complicated situations despite being in a health and wellness environment. The member is still being treated in the hospital. As a company, we wish him a smooth recovery and hope family members have support to overcome this hard time.
