Pedestrian Struck by Train Dies in Manchac

Akers, La – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office reports a train crash in which a female pedestrian was struck and killed.
Chief Jimmy Travis says 47 year old Sybil Henry of Baker, La was struck by a train late yesterday evening, as the train passed through Akers (Manchac) just before 6:30 PM.
For reasons still under investigation, Henry ended up on the tracks. The train tried to hit brakes but was unable to come to a stop before striking Henry who succumbed to her injuries.
