RESERVE — All East St. John alumni and their families are invited to a Return of the Alumni Track Meet from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 22 at Joe Keller Memorial Stadium in Reserve.

Organizer Ayonté Albert will never forget the impact track had on her formative years. Getting involved with the St. John Legends Track Club as a middle schooler under the direction of Coach Mark Creecy paved the way for her to earn a full scholarship to Southeastern. While an injury ended her track career two years into college, Albert’s health journey continued to blossom. She became more in tune with her body after switching to natural products and having a home birth. Today, she’s passionate about inspiring others to keep health and wellness at the forefront of their lives.

The Return of the Alumni Track Meet will feature prizes from area businesses promoting body wellness. It will also be a day for alumni to come together and create new memories with old friends, regardless of whether they ran track in high school.

“This is the first time we’re doing it, and we are hoping to make it an annual thing. I’ve met a lot of alumni that would like to come back and run track for a day. We are inviting all of the alumni, so even if you weren’t on the track team, you can still participate,” Albert said. “It’s for everyone – the alumni, their children, family and friends. We will have come children’s events for ages 2 and up, and the children will be able to win medals. A lot of local businesses have sponsored the event, giving out discounts or free items from their businesses that the alumni can come out and win.”

The first event will begin at 5:30 p.m. The full line-up of events is as follows:
