On April 18, 2023, George Oubre of 29350 Hwy 20 Vacherie, LA, age 63, pled guilty to Pornography Involving Juveniles (20 counts). Oubre was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. This guilty plea stems from a 2021 child exploitation investigation.

On November 18, 2021, detectives with the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division Houma field office received information from the United States Department of Homeland Security that George Oubre, a registered sex offender, was identified as being involved in the exploitation of children. Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for Oubre’s cell phone. During a search of the phone’s contents, detectives located a large quantity of photos and videos depicting Child Sexual Abuse Material including but not limited to children believed to be under the age of 5 years old. Detectives subsequently arrested George Oubre who was booked into the St. James Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Last week, George Oubre was sentenced to 50 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
