  • Heat Advisory & Excessive Heat Warning: 11AM – 7PM today.
  • Severe weather Today: Mainly mid-afternoon thru the evening hours..
  • Severe weather Tuesday: Mid-morning thru the evening hours.

WHERE:

  • Excessive Heat Warning: All of SE LA.
  • Heat Advisory: Southern MS.
  • Severe weather Today: SE LA and SE MS.
  • Severe weather Tuesday: All of SE LA.

CONFIDENCE:

  • Low to medium confidence with the placement of scattered storms this afternoon/evening. Where storms do develop, they may likely become strong to locally severe.
  • Medium confidence with the potential of more widespread strong to severe storms on Tuesday.
  • High confidence with the potential for dangerous heat indices today.

Severe Weather Impacts:

The main threats associated with any severe storms today will be:

Damaging Winds:

  • Wind gusts greater than 50 to 70 mph will be possible, which may lead to damage to trees and powerlines.

Large Hail:

  • Large hail 1 inch or greater in diameter will be possible

  • Wind blown hail could cause additional damage

Heavy Rain:

  • Storms today will be capable of heavy rainfall with rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour

Tornadoes:

  • An isolated tornado or waterspout cannot be ruled out

Heat Impacts:
  • Dangerously hot conditions with heat indices up to 115 degrees will cause health issues, especially to anyone outdoors for an extended period of time.
