Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges to host virtual youth fishing rodeo

BATON ROUGE — Calling all Louisiana youth 15 years of age and younger! Did you ever think you could win a fishing derby without paying an entry fee or weighing or measuring a fish? Here’s your chance! The Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges and the Friends of Louisiana Refuges Inc. are hosting a FREE Virtual Youth Fishing Rodeo during the Louisiana free fishing weekend June 10-11, 2023. Here’s how to join the fun:

 

  1. Youth who are 15 years old or younger fish the location of their choice in Louisiana waters sunrise to sunset on June 10 and 11. A fishing license is not required during Louisiana’s free fishing weekend.

 

  1. Youth should create a sign that says #GetYourFishOn2023 or #GeauxFish2023 and display it with their catch. Then send the photo of the youth angler holding their catch with the sign to  virtualfishingrodeo@gmail.comor to the Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges Complex Facebook page @Southeast Louisiana in a direct message utilizing Facebook messenger.
  2. Have fun fishing!

 

Photos of youth anglers and their catch must be received by 4 p.m. Monday June 12.  Prize winners will be selected randomly from the photos received and will be announced Friday, June 16.
