SCSO investigates over night shooting

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance for information on a shooting that occurred Wednesday, May 31, 2023, around 10:30 P.M. in the 200 block of Boutte Estates Drive in Boutte, LA.
Deputies were dispatched to the area around 10:30 P.M. based on the report of someone shot.
When deputies arrived at the location, they located a twenty-seven-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures, and he was transported to a local area hospital.
Through investigation, Detectives have learned the victim notified family members that he believed someone was in the backyard of their residence. The victim entered the rear bedroom and shortly after, his mother heard a single loud gunshot. The mother entered the rear bedroom and found her son suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
This is an ongoing active investigation. Residents may notice an increased police presence in the area as investigators search for evidence.
