Update: Detectives Investigate Shooting in Garyville

Detectives with the St. John Parish Office are investigating a Garyville shooting that resulted in the death of Javant Dunn, 19, of Greensburg, La.
On Sunday, April 2, 2023, about 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to a complaint in the 200 block of South Emilie Street in Garyville in reference to a man unresponsive lying on the ground outside a residence.
Upon arrival, officers learned the male subject, identified as Dunn, had sustained gunshot wounds to the body. Dunn was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office. No motive is known at this time.
