Free will determines our destiny

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I have an interesting life, mainly because God has allowed me to be a laborer in His ministry of Get High on Life.

One of the most exciting functions of the program is conducting DWI classes. The classes are held once a month for three nights. What makes these classes so exciting is the cross-section of people who attend.

A few months ago, a group of 13 men and women were ordered to attend. I encourage group participation by asking questions which makes my job easier and gets people to think. Over the years, I’ve found that people are willing to get involved if you expect them to.

Monday night, I asked each person to stand up, give their names and the reason for being there. I then shared a little about my personal experience with alcohol abuse.

Tuesday, I asked them what was the one thing they fear the most. Some said death, losing a loved one, failure, etc.

One middle-aged gentleman said, “I fear the loss of my soul.”

“If you die now, would you spend eternity in Heaven or Hell?”

“I don’t know.”

“If you are not sure, you are lost.”

I explained that he was either lost or saved. It was up to him.

He said, “It’s up to God where I spend eternity.”

I then continued that many people say it’s up to God, but in reality, it’s up to the individual. God gives us free will. Our destiny is determined by the choices we make.

I explained salvation to the group, which is so simple, it confuses people. By faith, we believe that Jesus paid the price for your sins on the Cross, that He rose on the third day, and acknowledge Him as your Lord and Savior.

What a better time to get saved than during the Easter Season!
