Tell us a little bit about yourself and your business:

First, I am the proud mother of an amazing 13-year-old named Jonathan. Outside of supporting his endeavors, I enjoy being of service to others. Real estate provides such a great privilege to help individuals and families find a dream home. I was of service in the United States Airforce ranked as an E-5 Staff Sergeant and, now a veteran, was recently accepted into the American Legion Post 383 of LaPlace, La. My service extends into the beauty industry as well. I am a Louisiana licensed Cosmetologist and Cosmetology Instructor and launched “Blended Tresses Etc. LLC” that offers various beauty merchandise. Moreover, my greatest service is that which I provide in the ministry as a licensed Minister of the Gospel. And, last but not least, I get to feed positivity into our youth at the SJBP STEM Magnet Program as a “Highly Qualified” Instructional Assistant.

Who are some role models you look up to, and why?

The encapsulation of my grandmother’s great strength and wisdom, my mother’s superior encouragement for me to never stop shooting for the stars no matter the circumstances and my sister’s intellect and accomplishments are reminders for me to continuously walk in my purpose. Not to mention, the select Women of God that influenced my vision of what a graceful faith-filled, well-rounded woman looks like.

Why is it important to encourage and be a role model for other young women that want to get into business?

Today, it is critical to lead by example and be an uplifting woman because negativity is a constant. With that said, encouraging women in business to not see other female entrepreneurs as a threat but rather a partner in supporting other women is vital to our lineage. While success may individually look different, our vision originates as “the woman who started…” is the same. Therefore, WE (all women) must set standards, acknowledge positive characteristics, dream, establish sustainability and unite to continue a culture of female excellence.

What advice would you offer?

Never give up! No matter how many life circumstances or adversities, finish your unique course and never stop believing in yourself and God’s plan. Now, go and BE GREAT!
